Thanksgiving Thirst Quenchers

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, we've taken the heavy burden of trying out some new cocktail recipes for you. We were even considerate enough to include a non-alcoholic drink for those of you who can't partake!

For the boozy:

Apple Cider Rum Punch

We found this first recipe on Bon Appetit and decided to test it out. It was a big hit. A couple of alterations you can make are to swap the lemon juice for orange juice and add a dash of apple juice. If you're not a rum drinker you could also swap in whisky or bourbon.

The original recipe is as follows:

  • 1 cup aged rum

  • 1 cup sweet vermouth

  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice

  • ¼ cup simple syrup

  • 4 dashes Angostura bitters

  • ½ red apple, very thinly sliced, plus more for serving

  • 3 3x1-inch strips orange zest, very thinly sliced, plus more for serving

  • 1 12-ounce bottle dry hard apple cider

Wine Pairing

"The Sage" by Silver Sage is definitely our families long time go to option to pair with turkey. It's a local BC wine so finding it can be a bit tricky but their website has a list of liquor stores you can find it in.

For the not boozy:

Ginger, Cranberry & Lemonade Punch

To be honest this last one was a bit of a concoction we whipped up after spending a good amount of time wandering the aisles at our local grocery store. We were surprisingly happy with the results so here they are:

Mix equal parts

  • non alcoholic ginger beer

  • Cranberry-Lemonade

  • Sparkling Water ( note this is to cut the sweetness so this can be adjusted to your taste)

  • A few dashes of Angostura Bitters

  •  fresh cranberries for pizzaz

Hope you enjoy, and stay tuned for more holiday recipes!
